1 What Is the Basis of Numerology?

 

  Numerology is a symbolical study of rhythm, cycles, and vibration. The exact origin of numerology is discretely buried in the mists of time. If one were to be exact, it could be said the numerology has its origin before the beginning of time! In its most esoteric form numerology simply reflects the tides and cycles of creation as set in motion by the Creator. It is related to astrology, a better known cousin of symbolic investigation. They are both concerned with the relationship of angles and vibrations resulting from the activities of celestial movements and the cycles of time, space and evolution arising there from.

  The study of numerology began with mans earliest attempt to understand the relationship between self and the cosmos. In recorded history, it is known that numbers were significant in the Sanskrit of the ancient Hindu culture. Modern numerology, in its evolution, was also influenced by the Arabic system of numbers. Yet another important branch is in the tradition and symbolism of the Kabala. The Orient also has a rich tradition of giving value to numbers. The Bible is similarly laden with a profound history of symbolism based upon numbers. Within the history of these cultures is a wealth of yet undiscovered wisdom based upon the esoteric teachings of their numerical traditions.     

   The individual most responsible for influencing the method of numerology in use today was Pythagoras, a Greek philosopher born between approximately 600 and 590 BC. Pythagoras founded a school where the instruction of mathematics, music, astronomy, and philosophy was conducted in conjunction with esoteric wisdom. He taught the relationship between man and the divine laws as reflected in the mathematics of numbers. Upon his philosophical strength the study of numerology, as it is today, has been established.

  There was said to have been two levels of teachings within the school: the exoteric and the esoteric. Today many of those students of old still exercise their interest in numbers. The exoteric students incline toward mathematics and science and often have little or no regard for the intuitive side of numbers (numerology). The esoteric students in today’s world can be found working with numerology and sometimes very advanced and theoretical mathematics. These former esoteric students for the most part have trouble learning standard mathematical teaching. Curiously, you find accountants and bookkeepers who have worked with numbers for years and suddenly become fascinated with numerology.

  Today's scientists and technologists are paying ever-increasing attention to the use of vibrations and frequencies. The advent of electricity introduced whole new applications of working with natural cycles. Radio, television, x-rays, and sub-atomic cycles, are some facets of modern technology that have opened the door to greater study and application of the principles of cyclical oscillations. New knowledge of the biorhythm cycles has made the public more knowledgeable about just how important it is to be aware of the cyclical patterns in our daily life.

 

  Physicists have learned that materials previously defined as inert, also have their own consciousness, which is established by their rate of vibration or frequency. The advances in quantum physics and astrophysics abound with escalating discoveries about our universe and our relationship to it. More understanding of the GUT (Grand Unified Theory) is published daily. The study of numerology has from its conception held the key to understanding the GUT. Perhaps more important numerology holds a key to experiencing it first hand. The study of numerology can take you from an observer of the event of evolution to a conscious participant in it.  

   Numerology as it is more commonly practiced provides a means of understanding cyclical patterns or qualities related specifically to the individual's personal life. By understanding one's own particular rhythm, it becomes easier to flow with life. With such understanding one can become the master of fate, rather than a victim of destiny's circumstances. Its application is just as significant today as with the ancient seeker. In fact, its application today may be more meaningful today in an age of rampart materialism and existential crisis.
