CHAPTER 14
NINE STAGES FOR RELEASING NEGATIVE PATTERNS
There is a
lot of information in this volume that is related to dysfunction and the
negative dark side. I have included this because, while practicing as a
psychotherapist along with intuitive counseling, I have come to realize that
most of current human behavior is more dysfunctional than healthy.
These
patterns are presented in this volume with hopes that with recognition of these
dysfunctional patterns will lay the foundation leading to their release and
resolution. To a large extent we live unconscious and ignorant of many hidden
negative ego patterns. Eventually life experiences introduce us to someone or
something that wakes us up and enables us to see the underlying negativity.
Once the recognition of negativity takes
place, we are encouraged to make changes toward the light side of life. That is
one of this author’s several wishes in writing this book; that it might help
awaken people to their pattern of denial. If you have reached that point, you
will find in this chapter some suggested guidelines to facilitate your
transformation into conscious awareness………
A. FOUR STEPS
OF ACKNOWLEDGMENT
1. The first
major step has begun. Whatever casual interest you had when you opened the book
certainly wasn't enough by itself to bring you to this page. Acknowledge to
yourself that your life has been negatively impacted by a dysfunctional
behavior pattern. You have been living in denial of many unconscious
dysfunctional patterns.
2. Commit to
personal growth and change that will benefit and fulfill you. There are
numerous avenues of growth available to the committed seeker. As a part of this
step you must also realize that you cannot do it all alone. You can benefit by
having the insight of others so that we can recognize what is unconscious
within us. It is nearly impossible to release unconscious negative patterns by
one’s self. You will benefit from having the solid support of a group or, if
you choose, a professional therapist/counselor.
3. Take the time and care to find a
counselor/therapist who suits your needs. It would b benefit you to choose one
who has a background of working with children of alcoholism or with issues of
addiction and codependency. Most professionals specialize in counseling/therapy
because their personal childhood circumstances included being the child of
dysfunction. Many practicing professionals have never acknowledged their
dysfunctional past and remain in denial themselves. It can be essential to the
client to work with a practitioner who has faced his/her own personal
"stuff". Once under way, you
may benefit from working within a support group or sharing with trusted friends
who are also dealing with their issues in a healthy way.
